Quite a few people are saying that the hype around AI art has already died down again, pointing to the impending wave of copyright infringement lawsuits that companies such as OpenAI and Midjourney are facing. It may be that the number of postings is decreasing, but not the quality. I want to show you some outstanding examples of the use of Midjourney AI-generated art that are ideally suited to take budding AI artists to the next level.
Latte Art
Let’s start with katt 🪩 ai art‘s Latte Art, a carefully selected collection of Niji styles that are fresh and bring a welcome change to Niji illustrations. The aim here is not so much the sophisticated prompt, but the use of Midjourney’s sref parameter, which has an absurd number of possibilities, but which only very few people are likely to play through. Katt’s Index is not an ‘I’ll show you everything’ overwhelming program, but primarily for people who want to get more out of Niji in terms of style or who thought Niji was synonymous with manga. Katt is also member of this platform.

Portrait Prompts
Brian 🎨 Bri Guy AI‘s (also the maintainer and spiritus rector of this very platform) ‘Portrait Prompts’ already comprise two issues so far and offer not only unusual portraits but also the matching prompts. Each issue offers several chapters (‘Punks’, ‘Masks’ etc.) and Midjourney prompts to get you started right away. These are always short and sweet, proving that you don’t have to write novels for Midjourney: Brian’s creations are brimming with eccentricity and creativity and are for anyone who wants to make more than just pretty pictures.

Eternal Summer
Summer Blake‘s (also present on this platform) extensive (165 pages!) work breaks all the molds: it is not only a declaration of love to creativity, but also to California and Californian girls. Summer’s instructive texts and examples go far beyond presenting what is technically possible with Midjourney: it is about seeing, describing and telling stories, selecting stylistic means and curating the images created. This achieves a meta-level that deals with the fundamental questions of what we actually do and want to achieve with AI art – and is also beautiful to look at! An absolute highlight, with a lot of thought, work and love put into it.
